Science for Everyday Decisions #7: Climate Education & Outreach: Mark McCaffrey)

CIES 2020: In preparation for 2020 Comparative and International Education Society (CIES)'s annual conference workshop titled, "Charting an SDG 4.7 Roadmap for Radical, Transformative Change in the Midst of Climate Breakdown", we are speaking with experts in the field of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

In a special workshop session at CIES, moderated by Christina Kwauk (Center for Universal Education, The Brookings Institution) and Radhika Iyengar (Center for Sustainable Development, Earth Institute, Columbia University), the contents of these interviews with experts will launch a series of discussions among workshop participants.

This video features Mark McCaffrey, who has been in the environmental education sphere in the US and internationally for decades. As a Co-Focal Point for UN Climate Change Education, Communication & Outreach Stakeholders Community (ECOS), he shares the trends of climate and environment education he has seen throughout his career as well as the education, training and international framework gaps that need attention.
